Most solar goes wrong at the sales stage, not the install. Someone quotes a system off a satellite photo, promises a payback that assumes you're home all day, and books a crew who've never met the electrician signing it off. We do it the other way round. The people who survey your roof are the same people who wire the inverter and sort the grid connection.
That matters for the paperwork as much as the panels. To get paid for what you export under the Smart Export Guarantee, the install has to be MCS certified and registered with UK Power Networks, a G98 notification for most homes or a G99 application for larger arrays. We handle both. Skip them and your surplus power goes to the grid for free.
There's a genuine window at the moment too: solar and battery installs carry 0% VAT until spring 2027. But we'll still tell you if your roof doesn't suit it. An east-to-west split can quietly beat a south-facing array that sits in shadow half the afternoon. We'd rather lose the job than sell you a number that doesn't hold up.
